It’s Hrithik Roshan who redefines this Agneepath. He plays the character without the flourish that Bachchan brought, turning him into a ruthless machine for revenge, yet shouldering layers of hurt, pain and rage that make you match step with him on his journey.I’m going with three out of five for director Karan Malhotra’s Agneepath. It is in the end, an old-fashioned revenge drama treated in that melodramatic, over-the-top style. AGNEEPATH is an uncomplicated story of revenge, is hard-hitting yet entertaining, dwells on strong emotions and aggressive and forceful action, yet is dissimilar from the original. Most Hindi films initiate with a bang, but run out of gas by the time they reach the finale, often getting deflated in between as well, but AGNEEPATH is vigorous from the very commencement to the absolute conclusion. The conflict at the very initiation and also towards the closing stages, the tension between Vijay and Kancha and also between Vijay and his mother, the game of one-upmanship played by Vijay to grab power… AGNEEPATH is one exhilarating ride. A vendetta story needs to be garnished with several terrific dramatic moments and Malhotra does just that. His handling of the subject deserves brownie points. The only 'hiccup', if one may say so, is the romantic track towards the first hour, which is lackluster. On the whole, AGNEEPATH is a fitting tribute to the masterwork.Visit Site for more

New Agneepath take an altogether fresh approach to its 22-year-old source. Remakes, however, are a slippery territory. They invite inevitable comparison and yet aspire for an exclusive identity.Moreover what can possibly work in place of Bachchan and his trademarks in an old hat plot riding on themes like Baap ka badla and Maa-bahen ki izzat? The answer is two massive, hysterical villains. Dharma Productions' Agneepath redux, to be fair, belongs to Rishi Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt .Like its original, Agneepath is loud and lengthy revenge sage. And while not as blood-soaked or explicit, it bombards the screen with its escalated, larger-than-life tone, vivid colours and robust imagery. The weaknesses of the original are the failings of this one too -- songs, women and Gaitonde.To me, that's exactly how Agneepath works, less of a remake, more of a tribute. Comparisons are damned. This *is* the new Agneepath. Though it shares a name with the original and begins with a flashback, Bachchan’s larger-than-life- surma-rimmed Vijay Dinanath Chauhan is a page in movie history. Remakes are tricky affairs. Expectations are invariably high and comparisons are inevitably made.But the new Agneepath isn't a cyclostyled copy of the 1990 film. The new movie walks its own line. New characters emerge.There's both style and craft in the way he builds the film's opening and closing scenes. You feel you are in the middle of a real execution. An earnest Vijay Dinanath Chauhan delivers poetic justice before a nearly packed hall on the proverbial 'first day first show'. Audiences at my cinema respond to the cues and lines. The comments passed sometimes distract you from the screen. Everyone guffaws at the same time. first of all, current Agneepath isn’t the exact replica of the original one in terms screenplay. New entrants like Rauf Lala add new interesting dimensions to the story. This Hrithik-Sanjay starrer flick is a collage of some impactful moments but fitted in the most haphazard manner which makes it impact less at many moments. Stupendous performances, fresh storyline despite a remake, Chikni Chameli song and cinematography are strengths of the film. Music, editing, long duration are the weak points.On the whole, Agneepath totally rests on star power which will lure the cine-goers to halls but how far will it impress them remains to be seen.Visit Site for more

Hrithik Roshan ensures that the movies in which he is present, is watchable because of sheer acting prowess.
Jodha Akbar, Guzaarish, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and now Agneepath. Different movies and he excelled in all the movies . Great Actor .

I feel Rajeev Masand will give either 2.5 or 3 to this movie. Though it has a good screenplay , it is hampered by two things
a. Length of the movie though the movie was not boring . Bad editing.
b. Ultimately it is a revenge saga.
Final scene is slightly inconvincing. I am sure that after watching the last scene you will not pity HR or SD but the tree which balanced the weight of these people.
Go Guys watch this movie . You need not wait for Rajeev Masand's review. Watch it for Hrithik , Rishi Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt.
The movie will get the same rating as Dirty Picture. Both are equally good movies.

HR has acted better than AB as the character of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan. His acting is more convincing than AB's in the so called cult movie of 1990. I am telling this despite being the fan of AB.
Also the screenplay is fantastic which keeps you hooked despite being predictable.
Some scenes reminded me of Krishh and Ghajini. For instance the depiction of muscles of HR while running is similar to that of Krish and the climax similar to the climax of Ghajini.
If you like comedy movies or light-hearted movies this movie is not for you.
It is definitely a dark and grim movie, the likes of Rakht Charitra. Hardly any comedy sequences other than some antics of priyanka chopra and some enunchs.
Well , this movie should deserve accolades mainly because of HR and the screen play. Credit also has to goto a refreshing role of Rishi Kapoor.( a delicious villian).
Editing is quite poor. May be the story demands it, but there were slightly more scenes for junior Vijay. Priyanka is wasted in this movie.Infact the movie could have been better without her character. There were slight glitches in the screenplay as well.For instance how the people of the Mandava village were convinced about the goodness of Vijay is not clear. It has to be assumed that they supported him just because of the torture of Kancha. Any way this could be cinematic liberties.
All in all , a great movie better than the original.

@11.29 pm-making an inspired remake is harmless when all you use is the basic plotline and then use your brains on it. eg- Sarkar *inspired* from The Godfather. But Bollywood most often takes pride in shamelessly copy-pasting else's work. eg-Wanted- a scene by scene xerox of Telegu movie Pokiri, The Train a photocopy of Hollywood movie Derailed(2005) and countless other Korean, Thai, Russian and even Iranian movies.The largest Movie industry of the world is running out of the most basic thing- ideas.

Agneepath records the highest one day collections of all time. Breaking bodyguard's earlier record of 21 crores,it recorded a whooping collection of 25 CRORES! That should shut all lallu's fans!

Just saw the movie, The movie was very good and well made. HR is as usual superb. Rishi Kapoor performance(as negative role) stunned me. Sanjay Dutt presence made me get Goose-Bumb, my God he is life of the movie. I wanted to see it again. Complete Bollywood type movie. Caution:- please take small kids, infant for the movie as they may scare with Violence and Background sound. But when you come out of the theatre you will have a definite smile of satisfaction, that for sure.

The length is bit too long but being a movie lover i can say that,not every aspect of a movie can be excellent......It is Far better than Ra.one, Don 2, Dabaang, Ready, Bodyguard....The only great news other than its BO Office record....is that WELCOME BACK HRITHIK !!!!! BACK WITH A BANG !!!! It's A 3.8/5 stars from me.......
First thing I want to say that defiantly it’s a must watch for those who loves dark cinema, really a good tribute to AB’s AGNEEPATH , it leaves impact on our mind , movie is a long journey of 3 hours but not boring that’s the main thing.
Performance wise, movie belongs to HR , Sanjay and Rishi sir , about Sanjay and Rishi sir , they played memorable character in the movie with their one of the best performance. In the movie you love to hate them. On the other side HR was also brilliant in the movie but character was very different from AB’s AGNEEPATH , as HR not speak much in the movie ,his performance was expression based
But still there were few things in the movie , which could have been much batter , There was to many songs , which slow the pace of the movie and all scenes based on Priyanka Chopra not been edited well ,and the best part for any movie has to be last 30 minutes, but last 30 minutes of AGNEEPATH was very unconventional for me. In the climax , I dont know why they shown HR so week in front of Sanjay ,knowing that Vijay is much younger then Kanchh and also Vijay lived last 15 yrs only because to take revenge,that was not shown in the end .
As a director Karan Malhotra did a fabulous job , keep it very different form original in term of using sets of the movie. Well made sets gives strength to the character specially to Sanjay and Rishi sir .
After watching the movie, I remember only those scenes which were Pictured on Sanjay and Rishi sir , so somewhere I am missing VIJAY DEENANATH CHAUHAN.

Great movie. Sanjay rocked, will get along with ranks of gabbar, shaakal and mugambo. Rishi kapoor was a total surprise, he's highly underrated, what an awesome actor (look at do duni chaar, chintuji, luck by chance, love aaj kal, hum tum). HR, tried hard, looked good, but can't really look angry, maybe Ajay Devgan could have done a better job. Overall, 3.75/5 for me.

man have a look at the film and decide for yourself... but no doubts one of the best movies of bollywood... it can break records... an awesome film... do watch it.......
